INTRODUCTION

Ear correction

Even in adulthood, asymmetrical or protruding ears are often the basis of jokes or thoughtless comments that can impair the confidence of the person affected. However, children are far more vulnerable to the effects of teasing, as their character is still developing. The good news: An ear correction, which can be carried out from around the age of 5, can immediately make life easier.

Inconspicuous procedure

As the incision is behind the ear, the procedure remains invisible to you and everyone else – only the improvement of your ears will be noticed.

Optimal aftercare

In addition to the scheduled post-operative examinations (1, 7, and 14 days afterwards), you can of course make additional appointments for further checks.

Outpatient surgery is possible

The procedure takes around 2 hours and can be performed on an outpatient basis with local anaesthesia.

Top-rated treatment

On Jameda, Germany's largest rating portal for doctors, our services were given the overall top score of 1.0 by over 140 patients.

Details

Everything you need to know about ear correction

The ears significantly contribute to the outer contour of the face and the entire head. If the ears stand out too far from the head, the contour is conspicuous and may lead to stigmatisation. In addition, an unbalanced symmetry can further accentuate these prominent features.

There are several reasons why one or both ears can protrude, which can occur alone or in combination. To choose the most suitable techniques for you, it is therefore essential to analyse the initial clinical condition in detail before the operation.

The incision is made on the back of the respective ear. In most cases, a combination of cartilage-shaping and skin-reducing techniques is used. Partial removal of the cartilage may only be necessary in very pronounced cases in which the auricle is greatly enlarged.

After the healing phase, the result is permanent, so that protruding ears will never be an issue for you again.

I will be happy to explain all the details in a personal consultation.

  • Duration of the operation: around 2 hours
  • Type of anaesthesia: Local anaesthesia with twilight sleep
  • Stay: Outpatient or overnight stay – naturally, it depends on your wishes
  • Check-ups take place 1, 7 and 14 days after the operation.
  • Further appointments can be arranged upon request.

Do not take blood-thinning medication such as Aspirin, ASA, Plavix, Marcumar, etc. for 14 days before a planned operation!
